Vision, leadership and organisational management
ICT is totally embedded into the school’s approach to the curriculum. The school has a strong vision for ICT and a commitment to supporting the wider curriculum and teaching and learning. ICT is consistently applied across the school through good provision, the strong leadership of ICT, and planning that underpins the school’s curriculum.
E-safety plays a high priority in the school. Pupils know about e-safety and a recent display exemplifies their understanding.
Governors have a very good understanding of the importance of ICT and have sustainable strategies to support ICT.
Staff have access to high quality CPD to enhance the skills and keep them up-to-date.
The school uses ICT effectively to implement improvements such as in literacy using visualisers to improve standards in writing.
Provision of ICT; quality and range
The school has very good provision for ICT with a wide range of software and hardware to support learning. ICT is systematically planned across the curriculum with a very effective long term plan for the school and a specific plan for EYFS. The school has made good provision for pupils with LDD with hardware and software to support their learning.
The school’s vision for ICT is reflected in their website and their commitment to developing their VLE further. The school has recently refurbished its ICT provision and has technical support to maintain it. The school is aware of the importance of communicating to parents, through ICT and uses its website and is developing its VLE ready for parental involvement. Pupils already have access in Years 3 and 4 and the school has plans to develop this further
Demonstrating impact on learning and teaching
The school evaluates the impact of its work in ICT well and ensures that it is used to good effect. Staff share their expertise and the leadership of ICT supports staff well. The school has a very clear idea of areas for further development through the ICT audit.
The school has an inclusive approach to ICT to ensure all pupils have access to ensure they make good progress. Their tracking system shows that pupils with LDD make good progress due to individualised programmes to improve their skills.
Pupils have a good understanding of the use of the internet and how to stay safe. ICT has had an impact on pupil outcomes particularly the more able and those with LDD and EAL.
